Emphasised by estate agents as being more exclusive, safe and quiet than through streets, the cul-de-sac is a common feature widely adopted in post-war housing developments. A series of parallel cul-de-sacs are shown in this animation and the images were taken from Google Maps street view. It is originally intended to be played on a mini portable media player which resembles a kind of electronic city guide (whether helpful or frustrating or mesmerising) and the small screen helps create an intimate 1 to 1 relationship with the viewer.
